KFC Egg Tarts!

7 09 2008

Yes, you did not read wrongly. KFC does sell egg tarts - just that you cannot find it at the Singapore outlets. The picture above was taken in Taipei. Those hands belong to Rachel. That bite off the egg tart was by her.

While Rachel and I did not try the fried chicken in Taipei’s KFC, we couldn’t resist buying the egg tarts as it was such an oddity on the menu.

It tasted surprisingly good. There are an assortment of fillings to choose from, ranging from yam to jam. How come Singapore menu don’t have such good stuffs one??? I seriously think KFC can consider introducing their egg tarts into the menu here. Confirm will sell like hotcakes one. :)

New uniform for Singapore’s “Thinking Soldiers”

3 09 2008

Singapore’s army boys and reservist men will now have a new look. Jointly developed with the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA), the new SAF combat uniform is said to have an  “enhanced camouflage pattern to reduce detection” and “better quality fabric and an ergonomic functional design”.

Check it out on the MINDEF website. Here’s what the new pixel camouflage uniform looks like:

I have no comments about the look as I will still hate serving my reservist regardless of what attire I have to don. Nonetheless, if this uniform lives up to it’s promise of being more comfortable and cooling to wear, I support it fully.

The only problem I think the new uniform will bring about is the shifting of the rank display for officers from the shoulder to the chest. From the look of it on the website, the rank looks rather indiscernible, mixed with the camouflage. There are a lot of assholes officers who are very particular about people not saluting or greeting them and I am wondering if this will result in more people getting extra duties because they can’t see the stupid ranks.

Any NS boys care to clarify if the concern above is valid? :)

The Clouds at VivoCity

2 09 2008

Nice right? I took this on the fourth floor of VivoCity, outside Food Republic. Nature’s beauty is astonishing. It’s a pity we often fail to stop and take note of simple things like this once in a while.

If you enjoy looking at cloud, you may want to check out this blog. The blog owner, Daniel Goh, takes pictures of just clouds exclusively and document them to share with everyone.

Singapore Poly Girls Night Out

1 09 2008

I have nothing much to say except enjoy the sexy video. :) Young girls these days are a showy lot, not afraid to flaunt their figures on the Internet via their blogs, videos and online photo albums.

If you want to know more about the story behind this video, you can read it HERE on omy.

Beat It (the Singapore ping pong song): Mr Brown’s tribute to Lee Bee Wah

31 08 2008

One of Singapore’s favourite blogger, Mr Brown’s song tribute to the very efficient and decisive Singapore’s Table Tennis Association President, Ms Lee Bee Wah:

My take on the whole incident is that Ms Lee Bee Wah, regardless of the reasons behind her actions, destroyed a once in 48 years PR opportunity for the Singapore government to get its citizens to embrace foreign talents, forget about the current economics hardship and unite as one nation behind a glorious Olympics medal win.

Now, celebration mood is dampen, the debate on foreign talent is reignited, the nation is disgruntled. Yes, she may have sincerely apologised yesterday morning, but the damage is already done.

TODAY online kena Hacked?

28 08 2008

Check out the side bar on the screengrab below:

Here’s an enlarged image of the side bar:

Wonder who’s the culprit… A hacker from Turkey or Israel? Or was it an uploading error? It can also be the work of an unappreciated intern or employee. :)

uVibe: New sex toy from Osim?

26 08 2008

Saw this via I.Z.Reloaded. Osim launched a new vibrator massager called uVibe. The name itself is suggestive, not to mentioned the kawaii graphics of the sweet girl sitting on the uVibe and enjoying herself. Worse still, the product tagline is actually this: “Think vibrating massage. Think OSIM uVibe”.

erm…

Osim seems to have a flair for launching such products don’t you think? Remember iGallop? I wonder if this is a deliberate marketing strategy.

What’s next? :)

Naming the New Singapore University

25 08 2008

Calling all Singaporeans! The Ministry of Education needs your help:

The Ministry of Education invites you to suggest a name for the new university!

Singapore’s new publicly-funded university will open its doors to students in 2011. It will provide rigorous and high-quality innovative degree programmes to students who want to learn across disciplines, hone their entrepreneurial skills, and be well-prepared for successful careers in the global knowledge economy.

Suggested names should be befitting of a premier educational institution in Singapore, and could reflect the qualities we hope to see in the new university and its students.

The naming exercise will end on 30 November 2008. Your suggestions will be put up to the New University Steering Committee for consideration.

We look forward to receiving your suggestions!

I am placing my bet on the name, “Lee Kuan Yew University” or “People’s Action University“, given Singaporeans’ penchant for MM Lee and the PAP. :) What do you think?

CCTV Interview with Li Jiawei (李佳薇) and Feng Tianwei (冯天薇)

23 08 2008

picture via teamsingapore.sg

A candid insight into the two star players in Singapore’s Women Table Tennis team who clinched the Olympics Silver medal last Sunday. It’s quite long (44 mins, 22 secs), hence please watch with patience.

The interview with Feng Tianwei is quite touching. She came from a very humble background and really had to work very hard to achieve what she has today. This is something most of us pampered Singaporeans will not understand.
