Captain America: The First Avenger (3D)

I watched the local premiere of the latest Marvel blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger in 3D last Wednesday, thanks to the folks from United International Pictures.

I am quite a hardcore comic book fan as some of you may know. I am one of those geeks who anxiously anticipate the release of each superhero movie on the big screen, hoping it won’t be another fluke like the horrendous Dragonball Revolution, directed by the scumbag James Wong.

I am quite happy this latest Captain America movie didn’t disappoint. too much Considering how outdated and cheesy the concept of a chauvinistic “All-America Hero” like Captain America is, the producer and director did try their very best to not make him look too silly.

There were reasons given in the movie, as to why Captain America uses a cumbersome shield as his preferred weapon of choice; why he wears odd cowboy leather boots; why he has little wings on his head, among other illogical costume choices. All these help to soften the “silliness factor” of an otherwise quite silly hero on today’s time.

In fact, I am quite looking forward to catching the Avenger  2012 movie scheduled for release next year. Lead up movies include include Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and of course, Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). All of which I have seen.

Captain America is now showing in Singapore cinemas. If you are catching the movie, do stay the end of the credits for a short preview of Avenger. 🙂

  1. No clever messages here, just bang-on romance and action, with another fresh twist on 20th-century history woven in for the kids to dive into after the credits have rolled. Good Review!
