Nestlé 100 Years! Growing Up with Singapore

100 Years of Good Food, Good Life with Nestlé Singapore
100 Years of Good Food, Good Life with Nestlé Singapore

Nestle celebrates its 100 years in Singapore this year and they have a slew of exciting activities to thank Singaporeans for the amazing shared growing up journey for the past century.

Many of Nestle products are household names in Singapore – Milo, Maggi, Kit Kat, Milkmaid, Nescafe, just to name a few.

I can still vividly remember the thrill and exhilaration of seeing the Milo van near the finishing point during cross-country training at MacRitchie Reservoir in my secondary school days! A gulp of iced Milo after a long, strenuous run, that was heaven to many  secondary school kids.

Cold Milo was hard to come by then. Now there’s Milo 3in1 Easy Cool!

As part of their 100 years celebration, Nestle will be fulfilling the wish of 100 persons in Singapore. You can submit your wish on their official website or read through some of the wishes they have fulfilled so far.

Here is the wish I submitted to Nestle:

“I like to travel and I have a habit of buying instant noodles from different countries back home as a souvenir and as a snack. It would be great if Nestle can send me all the different Maggi noodles sold around the world so I can try them all in this lifetime (better still, fly me to all the countries where Maggi noodles are sold to try them all). “

I was half-expecting all the wish to be for materialistic stuff like striking lottery, a new car and more of the same, but some are pretty heart-warming, selfless and interesting wishes.

Among the wishes fulfilled, here are some of my favourites:

A wish to help others

Have you submitted your wish yet? If not, do so today! It takes less than a minute of your time and Nestle just may make your wish comes true. 🙂

When you are done with the wish, you can play a game with Nestle’s Ah Hock, the nostalgic telling parrot and find out his reading for your own journey with Nestle.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, SOLD.sg, Singapore’s leading online shopping destination for luxury and entertainment products, helped their users find love this Valentine’s Day by partnering with omy.sg to auction off ten popular bloggers as Valentine’s dates.

Over a period of merely five days, this charity auction raised S$2038.50 from the public’s bids, and in addition to the money raised from the auction, SOLD.sg also contributed $1 to match every $2 raised.

A total of $3,100 was raised and were donated to the Spastic Children’s Association of Singapore (SCAS) over a group dinner date at Limoncello Restaurant.

I was at the restaurant too to witness the cheque presentation and to meet up with the SOLD.sg team, the ten bloggers, the ten winning bidders, as well as the representatives from SCAS and Limoncello respectively.

Angry Birds Going Through Airport Security… For Finnair Flight to Singapore

Here’s a random video which I found rather amusing. The video is in relation to the “Angry Birds Asian Challenge with Finnair” collaboration campaign between Rovio and Finnair:

Earlier, a search was conducted to identify avid Angry Birds fans from all over the world to join Finnair’s Angry Birds theme flight and to compete in the Angry Birds Asian Challenge at an altitude of 10,000 metres:

A group of lucky individuals were selected: Bryan and John from Malaysia, Katja from USA, Viktor from UK, Shirley and Karen from Singapore and Lasse from Finland.

They will get to board Finnair’s unique flight from Helsinki to Singapore on 20 September. More details are available on the official campaign website. 🙂
