Nestlé 100 Years! Growing Up with Singapore

100 Years of Good Food, Good Life with Nestlé Singapore
100 Years of Good Food, Good Life with Nestlé Singapore

Nestle celebrates its 100 years in Singapore this year and they have a slew of exciting activities to thank Singaporeans for the amazing shared growing up journey for the past century.

Many of Nestle products are household names in Singapore – Milo, Maggi, Kit Kat, Milkmaid, Nescafe, just to name a few.

I can still vividly remember the thrill and exhilaration of seeing the Milo van near the finishing point during cross-country training at MacRitchie Reservoir in my secondary school days! A gulp of iced Milo after a long, strenuous run, that was heaven to many  secondary school kids.

Cold Milo was hard to come by then. Now there’s Milo 3in1 Easy Cool!

As part of their 100 years celebration, Nestle will be fulfilling the wish of 100 persons in Singapore. You can submit your wish on their official website or read through some of the wishes they have fulfilled so far.

Here is the wish I submitted to Nestle:

“I like to travel and I have a habit of buying instant noodles from different countries back home as a souvenir and as a snack. It would be great if Nestle can send me all the different Maggi noodles sold around the world so I can try them all in this lifetime (better still, fly me to all the countries where Maggi noodles are sold to try them all). “

I was half-expecting all the wish to be for materialistic stuff like striking lottery, a new car and more of the same, but some are pretty heart-warming, selfless and interesting wishes.

Among the wishes fulfilled, here are some of my favourites:

A wish to help others

A cute, simple wish by a young-at-heart old lady

Have you submitted your wish yet? If not, do so today! It takes less than a minute of your time and Nestle just may make your wish comes true. 🙂

When you are done with the wish, you can play a game with Nestle’s Ah Hock, the nostalgic telling parrot and find out his reading for your own journey with Nestle.

Here’s the reading for mine:

Politically-correct "Happy Holidays" Kit Kat for Christmas anyone?
Politically-correct "Happy Holidays" Kit Kat for Christmas anyone?

Merry Christmas!

Did you miss out buying Christmas prezzies for some of your friends and relatives? Maybe the SMRT train broke down while you were on your way to town or you got caught in one of those “once in 50 years” flash floods. Fret’ not, Nestle’s Kit Kat is here to save the day. 🙂

With Kit Kat’s Christmas CrazyPrezzies app, you can be a keyword warrior in the comfort of your own home and send out funky, customised greeting e-cards to your friends on facebook while having fun at the same time.

To access the app, visit the Kit Kat Singapore facebook page and click on the “Christmas CrazyPrezies” tab on the left-hand-side bar.

How the Christmas CrazyPrezies App works:

Fans of the Kit Kat Singapore Facebook page can use this app to send out greetings to selected friends. In line with the Kit Kat tongue-in-cheek brand character, users can draw out silly and naughty gifts for their friends. There are a total of 13 different gifts that can be sent and are unlimited, with the exception of the free Kit Kat bars which each fan can and will only draw once throughout the campaign.

I had fun sending out some of the Kit Kat e-cards a few minutes ago. I did not manage to draw all 13 variations of the gifts though (and definitely not the free Kit Kat bars yet). Somehow, I keep getting the Santa’s beard:

Looks fun isn’t it? I will try more later after lunch. Now, I am going to take a break and munch on some Kit Kat. What’s Christmas without a little chocolate binge? 🙂

Official Launch of Shine Youth Festival @ Scape

On Saturday (2 July), I attended the official launch of Shine Youth Festival at Scape together with a group of omy.sg bloggers and photo enthusiasts.

omy.sg had two related activities in conjunction with Shine – “Kit Kat’s Yer Big Break Blog Challenge” and “Getting Up Close and Personal with Lumix at the Mascot Parade”.

I got to trail the mascot parade for a short distance, got some free Kit Kats and Panasonic photo prints. Most important of all, I got a photo taken with Yam Ah Mee!

He is a very jovial chap with no airs at all, obliging with anyone who came forward to snap a photo with him. Obviously, he was the star attraction of the day.

“Since when has being a civil servant been so cool!” I exclaimed to my colleague, Janet who nodded her head in agreement.

Anyway, here are some of the other photos taken at the official launch:

Have a Break and Chill Out On Cooling-Off Day

Take a Break...
Take a Break...

Tired of the sensory overload of information for the upcoming elections this Saturday?

Tomorrow is the government-mandated Cooling-Off Day.

The mainstream media will be taking a break.

You can take a break too to hang out at the beach or have a dinner gathering with close friends, whatever rocks your boat.

I love to travel, hence for me, the perfect break would be to be able to fly away for an exotic holiday.

Realistically  though, a good break for me tomorrow would be to be able to laze on my living room sofa for some quiet reading while munching on my favourite snacks like a bar of Kit Kit for instance.

With a good break comes a clearer brain. With a clearer brain, you would be better able to consider your choices carefully and vote wisely the next day. 🙂

This post is written as a sample blog entry for Kit Kat ®’s Yer Big Break! Blogging Challenge, brought to you by Kit Kat ® and omy.sg:

Kit Kat's Yer Big Break!
Kit Kat ®'s Yer Big Break!
