omy.sgwon two awards for our Singapore Blog Awards campaign! Congratulations to the omy.sg team and the local and regional blogging community who made the awards possible!
More details are available in the official press release below. I have also included some photos I took:
Singapore, 8 July 2011 – omy.sg, the leading bilingual news and entertainment web portal of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), received two Excellence Awards in the Asian Publishing Awards 2011. The awards were given out at the Gala Dinner ceremony of the Asian Publishing Convention at The Landmark Bangkok, Thailand tonight.
The Asian Publishing Awards (APA) recognises best publishing practices in Asia. It incorporates the Asian Magazine Management Awards, Asian Book Publishing Awards, Asian Corporate Communications Awards and the Asian Fashion Photography Awards with 13 categories.
omy.sg was awarded Excellence in both the Advertising Delivery category and the Best Use of UGC (User-Generated Content) category for its Singapore Blog Awards 2010 entry.
In the Advertising Delivery category, entries are judged on the use of multimedia ad delivery mechanisms to deliver results and revenue for the advertisers. For the Best Use of UGC (User-Generated Content) category, entries are judged by how well they encourage user contributions in building a virtual community.
omy.sg incorporated the use of Twitter and Facebook, as well as a microsite, in its campaign for the Singapore Blog Awards. On average, it garnered an increase of over 1 million page views every month (Nielsen Netratings, July 2010) during the campaign period. omy.sg’s Facebook and Twitter membership also grew substantially and saw more active discussion and interaction with the brand.
Ms Lee Kuan Fung, Associate Editor of omy.sg, said: “We are honoured to receive this award. It is definitely a great affirmation that the Singapore Blog Awards is a great platform for individual bloggers to be engaged and connected in the social media world, while being a highly successful channel for advertisers to entice netizens with innovative and integrated campaigns.”
It was the Singapore Blog Awards 2010 presentation ceremony. Over 300 guests were present, most of them, established and prominent bloggers in Singapore or around the region.
Our protagonist, modeling agency big wig and web sensation, Steven Lim, bumped into the mysterious former Miss Singapore World whom he always wanted to recruit under his umbrella of gorgeous models – Ris Low.
Watch what happen in this exclusive video from omy.sg as Steven Lim approached Ris Low to join his modeling agency:
This is the third year omy.sg organised the awards and with each year, it gets bigger and better with a steadily growing pool of bloggers in the omy.sg blog community. If you are interested to join the omy.sg blog club, CLICK HERE. Registration is free and you get invites to exclusive events and parties.
As one of the main coordinator for the awards and also a blogger myself, you may find it strange why I seldom blog about the event.
Simple – cos I am too busy running around to take photos lah! 🙂
Anyway, I found a solution this year. Instead of posting photos, I will put up all the event videos which my omy.sg colleagues have nicely packaged and pieced together.

Organised by omy (www.omy.sg), Singapore Press Holdings’ bilingual news and interactive web portal, the Singapore Blog Awards honours “new-age wordsmiths” who devote their time and energy to create and maintain informative and innovative blogs.
A total of 1,500 blog entries were received last year with over 160,000 votes cast by online voters, a 50 per cent growth in participation rate from the inaugural Singapore Blog Awards in 2008.
omy.sg hopes the attractive prizes will help to build the Singapore Blog Awards into a premium online event that bloggers and the online community can look forward to every year.
Ms Lee Kuan Fung, Associate Editor of omy.sg, said: “Managing and writing a blog can be a life-enriching experience. Be it a photo enthusiast, foodie or just someone who likes to share random thoughts, blogging is a creative process which is rewarding for both the bloggers and readers. One objective of the Singapore Blog Awards is to recognise and encourage these bloggers who would go the extra mile in creating and sharing content online”.
Adding to the excitement are the two fringe awards – Best Local Celebrity Blog and Best Overseas Celebrity Blog – in partnership with rednano.sg, Singapore’s local directory search engine (www.rednano.sg). The online and mobile directory service portal, launched in 2008, is operated by SPH Search Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of SPH. There will be no prizes given to the fringe award winners but voters stand to win attractive prizes via online and mobile votes. In conjunction with the Singapore Blog Awards 2010, Rednano will also be running a Rednano Best Mobile Blog Award from 15 April 2010. More details will be announced later.
